Interview with Maja Naumovska: Millennial women as drivers of innovation and responsibility in the corporate world
We have created a platform for millennial women working in the industry who are ready to share their success stories. We launched a series of interviews to highlight their inspiring experiences and achievements, focusing on women who are transforming the world around them. In this edition, we spoke with Maja Naumovska, Director of corporate and marketing communications at Halkbank.

Can you tell us more about the company where you are working and its objective?
In my eyes, Halkbank has always meant more than just a bank. It is an institution that is built and positioned as a partner in the development of people, businesses, and the community. Its purpose goes beyond providing financial services – it is about creating value, trust, and long-term stability. Through innovation, digital solutions, and socially responsible initiatives, the bank actively contributes to positive changes in society.
What challenges have you faced as a millennial woman working in your industry, and how have you overcome them?
Working in marketing within the financial sector often requires balancing creativity and precision, speed and responsibility. As a millennial woman who works in, and truly enjoys, this industry, I have faced challenges in building strong professional authority in an environment with high expectations and constant change.
I believe I have overcome these challenges through results, demonstrated motivation and ambition, building a strong team that works in sync, continuous learning, and trust in my professional integrity. I am also aware that self-confidence does not come from position, but from consistency and the value we create.
What competencies or skills do you believe are most valuable for millennial women in the workplace, and why?
In addition to the specific skills required for a given position, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking are especially important. We live in a time of constant transformation, and the ability to adapt quickly, understand people, communicate effectively, and make thoughtful decisions is crucial.

How can millennial women continue to develop and refine their skills in the industry?
Through curiosity, courage, and continuous investment in themselves. For example, training programs, involvement in new projects, stepping outside one’s comfort zone, and connecting with inspiring people all help broaden our horizons.
However, I would also add that rest is important. 😊 In the dynamic world we live in, with numerous professional and personal responsibilities, we often need to give ourselves space to rest. It is in these moments that we can most clearly reflect on the direction in which we want to grow and develop.
How do you think millennial women bring a unique perspective to the industry compared to previous generations?
Honestly, I’m not sure I can make a direct comparison. However, when it comes to millennial women, I believe they naturally combine ambition with responsibility and purpose. We tend to show greater openness to change, inclusivity, collaboration, and balance between results and values. We also have the ability to be both analytical and empathetic at the same time, which I believe is especially important today.
How do you see the role of mentorship and support networks playing a part in the advancement and success of millennial women in the workplace?
Mentorship and support are powerful drivers of growth. They provide perspective, trust, encouragement, guidance, and confidence in decision-making. Success is always more sustainable when there is an exchange of experience and mutual support. It is also more meaningful when it comes from a career that has not been built through a “solo journey,” but through shared learning and collaboration.
