Empowering Sustainable Growth: Success Stories from Macedonia
Across sectors, companies in Macedonia increasingly recognize that sustainable growth is not just a trend, but a necessity. However, navigating the transition demands expert support and strategic investment. Through the support of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and the EENergy grant initiative, the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research has helped two local companies—TIM’S DOO Skopje and Euromak Kontrol—take practical steps toward greener operations, energy efficiency, and long-term resilience. Their stories show how the right support can drive real transformation and set new standards for sustainability.

TIM’S DOO Skopje: Leading Sustainability in Hospitality
Founded in 1999, TIM’S DOO Skopje is a prominent player in Macedonia’s hospitality sector. After a major renovation in 2020, the hotel focused on modern design and sustainability, aiming to optimize energy use. Their first connection with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) came when the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research, the EEN partner in Macedonia, was promoting the EENergy call for applications. The hotel reached out for support in developing a structured path for energy optimization.

The Foundation assisted by conducting a sustainability assessment and creating a tailored action plan. They also guided TIM’S DOO Skopje through the EENergy grant application process. With the funding secured, the hotel was able to invest in photovoltaic (PV) cleaning equipment and provide energy efficiency training to staff. These actions are expected to reduce energy consumption and operational costs, strengthening TIM’S DOO Skopje’s position as a leader in sustainable hospitality.
As Energy Manager Vladimir Ristovski notes, “Thanks to the support of the Enterprise Europe Network and the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research, we’re advancing our energy efficiency efforts—helping to reduce our environmental impact while enriching the guest experience with eco-conscious practices.”

Euromak Kontrol: Enhancing Energy Efficiency in Laboratory Services
Euromak Kontrol, established in 1999 and based in Skopje, provides laboratory testing, quality control, and consulting services. Despite a strong focus on service quality and adherence to ISO standards, the company faced growing energy demands in its laboratory facilities, leading to higher operational costs and the need for long-term sustainability strategies. Lacking the internal resources to assess their energy consumption effectively, they reached out to the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research when the EENergy call for applications was being promoted.

The Foundation helped Euromak Kontrol develop a tailored sustainability action plan, which served as the basis for a successful EENergy grant application. With this funding, the company is taking significant steps to reduce energy consumption, invest in renewable energy technologies like photovoltaics, and train employees on energy efficiency practices.
As CEO Suzana Temelkoska shares, “Implementing energy-saving solutions goes beyond just reducing costs—it’s about making our operations more resilient for the future. With the invaluable support from the Enterprise Europe Network, we are successfully integrating renewable energy solutions. These investments will not only yield long-term benefits but have also made our sustainability goals attainable.”

The journeys of TIM’S DOO Skopje and Euromak Kontrol demonstrate how a clear sustainability vision, combined with the right expertise and support, can drive meaningful change. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue partnering with forward-thinking companies, helping them unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation in a more sustainable future.
