Webinar recap: Emotional intelligence and equity in teaching – key tools to support girls in STE(A)M
On 27 November 2025, the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research, within the framework of the STREAM IT project, successfully held the webinar “Emotional intelligence and equity in teaching – key tools to support girls in STE(A)M” as part of the National Inspirational Hub (NIH) webinar series.

This sixth webinar in the series was aimed at educational and research institutions (primary, secondary, and higher education), civil society organizations, as well as girls and young women interested in the STE(A)M fields.

The main goal of the webinar was to explore the role of inclusive teaching, emotional intelligence, and active learning methods in encouraging girls to engage and advance in STE(A)M. Through practical examples, participants learned how educators can recognize stereotypes, build a positive and motivating classroom environment, and apply strategies that foster empathy, self-confidence, and active participation.

Topics covered during the webinar:
- Inclusive and gender-sensitive teaching
- The role of emotional intelligence and the development of socio-emotional competencies
- Active learning methods and approaches that encourage girls in STE(A)M
- Practical examples and educational interventions that demonstrate results

A special guest at the event was Prof. Dr. Gjorgina Ķimova from IN Association – a full professor in pedagogy and educator for personal and emotional development. She shared practical advice, inspiring examples from her work, and concrete recommendations for creating equitable and supportive learning environments.

The webinar once again demonstrated that inclusive education and emotional intelligence are key drivers for increasing the participation of girls in STE(A)M – areas where talent and potential can fully flourish when the right support is in place. The knowledge and experiences shared stimulated meaningful dialogue and opened the door for further activities and collaboration.

The Foundation for Management and Industrial Research remains firmly committed to promoting gender equality and inclusion across all sectors and is already working on new activities that will contribute to fulfilling this important mission.
