EWA Training on Business models, Financial management, and Legal aspects for Women entrepreneurs held

Today, 12 September 2025, as part of the Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) program, supported by EIT Food and locally implemented by the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research (MIR), a training was held on topics of key importance for every female leader: business models, financial management, and legal aspects for women entrepreneurs.

The training was designed for the 10 selected participants in this year’s program—women with the vision and capacity to build successful businesses. The sessions were led by Aleksandar Celeski, a professional trainer who, through an interactive approach and practical exercises, encouraged participants to develop their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge.

In the first part, Defining a Business Model, participants learned about the core components of a stable business model, strategies for aligning with market demands and values, as well as practical tips to ensure sustainability and scalability.

In the second part, Financial Management, participants gained essential knowledge and practical skills for managing finances and making informed financial projections for their businesses.

The training was dynamic, practical, and interactive. Participants not only received concrete tools and knowledge but also created a supportive environment for personal and professional development. The day concluded with an inspiring exchange of experiences and concrete plans for applying what they learned in real business situations.

This was another step in building confident, determined, and competent women entrepreneurs—exactly the kind needed to grow and improve their businesses. Participants left with new skills, increased self-confidence, and a clear vision of how to apply the techniques learned in their business journeys.

After the training, participants will receive materials with assignments for both topics, as well as recorded content for the next session: Legal Issues. This session focuses on key legal aspects that no startup can afford to overlook: types of business entities, important legal agreements such as NDAs and founder agreements, and intellectual property rights—especially crucial for innovations in the agri-food sector.

In this way, the training continues to provide ongoing learning and practical support for the successful development of participants’ businesses.

👩🌾 What is the EWA program?
Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) is a European program that helps women entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector develop their innovative ideas—not only through financial support but also through expert training, mentoring, and networking opportunities. The program targets women in the early stages of their entrepreneurial careers, providing access to relevant knowledge and contacts necessary for developing a sustainable and successful business.

The local partner of the program is the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research (MIR)—a foundation actively promoting innovation, technology transfer, and gender equality in entrepreneurship and research. Through its activities, the Foundation:

  • Researches and innovates to support sustainable growth
  • Collaborates with companies for access to global markets
  • Promotes eco-innovations and new business opportunities
  • Encourages social cohesion and inclusive development

For the first time this year, the EWA program is being implemented in North Macedonia through the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research, marking a step forward in supporting women’s entrepreneurship and innovation in the agri-food sector.
