As part of the program supporting women’s entrepreneurship in agriculture, an online EWA Training held on new trends in agriculture: Innovations, digital tools, and changing consumer habits for agricultural products and services was held on October 6, 2025.

The session was led by Dr. Marija Gjoseva-Kovachevikj from the Agricultural Institute – Skopje, who shared practical experiences and the latest insights in the field of sustainable and modern agriculture.

This interactive training aimed to familiarize participants with global sustainable development strategies, climate-smart agricultural practices, and modern digital tools and precision agriculture concepts.

Through practical examples and open discussion, the participants shared their experiences and challenges while exploring how digitalization and innovation can contribute to improving productivity and sustainability in agricultural products and services.

In the final part of the training, new consumer trends, market opportunities, and agrotourism were discussed as potential drivers of economic growth and diversification in rural areas.

The session concluded with a joint reflection and definition of next steps to apply the lessons learned and encourage the implementation of innovative agricultural practices.

The training was intended for the 10 selected participants of this year’s EWA program — women with vision, motivation, and capacity to build successful businesses.

What is the EWA Program?
Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) is a European program designed to help women entrepreneurs in the agrifood sector develop their innovative ideas — not only through financial support but also through professional training, mentoring, and networking opportunities. The program targets women in the early stages of their entrepreneurial careers, providing access to the knowledge and connections needed to build sustainable and successful businesses.

The local partner of the program is the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research (MIR) – an organization actively promoting innovation, technology transfer, and gender equality in entrepreneurship and research. Through its activities, the Foundation:
• Conducts research and fosters innovation for sustainable growth
• Collaborates with enterprises to access global markets
• Promotes eco-innovation and new business opportunities
• Encourages social cohesion and inclusive development

For the first time this year, the EWA program is being implemented in North Macedonia through the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research, marking a significant step forward in supporting women’s entrepreneurship and innovation in the agrifood sector.
