Call for participants – Mentorship program for capacity building in science communication
STEM fields – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – are the driving force of innovation and development in the world. However, to have a real impact, scientific knowledge must be communicated in a clear, creative, and inspiring way. In a time when information moves at incredible speed, scientists have a new role – to be effective communicators, conveying their ideas and discoveries in a way that reaches the wider public.
With this goal in mind, the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research announces a call for participation in the Mentorship program for capacity building in science communication, part of the European project STREAM-IT. The program aims to help young scientists turn their research into clear and inspiring messages and to develop the skills necessary for further professional growth.

Why apply?
Science communication is not just public speaking or a well-crafted presentation – it is a way to create a connection between science and people, between facts and inspiration.
Through this program, you will learn:
- How to present your research in a clear, inspiring, and creative way – whether speaking to colleagues, the public, or the media;
- How to build self-confidence and a personal brand in science;
- How to improve presentation and communication skills through practical sessions and feedback from experienced mentors;
- How to connect with the scientific and professional community and create a network for support and future opportunities.
Program structure
The program will run from January to June 2026 and will include a total of 40 hours of mentorship, organized as a combination of group sessions and individual meetings. This ensures that each participant receives direct support and hands-on experience with experienced mentors.
The first event, a bootcamp, is scheduled for January 15, 2026, where participants will be introduced to the program, mentors, and fellow participants. At the end of the program, participants will prepare for a national science communication competition (May 2026), and the winner will attend the international competition in Budapest (June 2026).
Who can apply?
The program is intended for students at various levels of study and researchers from STEM research institutions who are ready to actively participate in all program activities.
Only 12 participants will be selected for this unique program.
How to apply
Interested candidates should complete the application at the following link by December 5, 2025.
Selected candidates will be notified by December 14, 2025.
ST(R)E(A)M IT aims to initiate change about the persisting gender inequalities in STEM education, research, and innovation to contribute to the implementation of the ‘The European Manifesto for gender-inclusive STE(A)M education and careers.’ The project aims to overcome the barriers and challenges faced by underrepresented groups in STEM. It focuses on developing innovative, gender- and diversity-inclusive tools for educating young people, particularly young girls. Additionally, the project seeks to mobilize stakeholders from various sectors of STEM education and the R&I ecosystem to create sustainable networks that provide ongoing support to STEM education providers.
